In an effort to educate youth in Kansas with accurate agricultural information, Kansas Farm Bureau is once again offering a train-the-trainer opportunity and registration for the 2018 Be Ag-Wise workshop, Full steAm ahead! Incorporating Agriculture into your STEM curriculum, is now open. Workshops will be held in Manhattan on Feb. 22, Colby on Feb. 27, Garden City on March 6 and Bonner Springs on March 13. Exact locations and other important information will be emailed to those who register to attend.
This year attendees will have the option to register for morning, afternoon or all-day sessions. Elementary school lesson plans will be presented from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ($25), junior & senior high school lesson plans will be presented from Noon - 4 p.m. ($25), or attend both sessions for a discounted price of $40. All sessions include a working lunch.
Your registration deadline is two weeks prior to the workshop you select. Registration fees includes the opportunity to receive training on a variety of agriculture-based, hands-on learning labs, valuable resources, a working lunch and networking time with other educators.
This workshop is designed for volunteer agricultural educators such as Cooperative Extension presenters, county Farm Bureau agricultural education volunteers, Conservation District managers, agricultural educators, youth presenters and especially teachers.
Standard based STEAM lesson plans will be presented. The easiest way for teachers to receive credit for attending this workshop is to request seven hours of face-time training from your local professional development board. They will want to review the workshop agenda and the lesson plans you receive to consider your request. Also, teachers may earn double-points for implementing lessons and strategies obtained at this workshop.
