Applications for the 2018 Spring White-Reinhardt mini-grants are due Sunday, October 15. These grants are offered to state and county Farm Bureaus for ag literacy projects for grades K-12. The grants are allocated through county and state Farm Bureaus and are used to create new agricultural literacy projects or expand existing agricultural literacy efforts.
New this year, county and state Farm Bureaus may apply for $1,000 grants for education programs for grades K-12 in order to initiate new ag literacy programs or expand existing programs. Grants are available on a competitive basis.
Criteria for selecting winners includes: the effectiveness of demonstrating a strong connection between agriculture and education; how successfully the project enhances learner engagement in today’s food, fiber and fuel systems; and the processes and timelines for accomplishing project goals.
The White-Reinhardt Fund for Education is a special project of the Foundation in cooperation with the AFB Women’s Leadership Committee. It was established to honor two former chairs of that committee, Berta White and Linda Reinhardt, who were leaders in the national effort to improve agricultural literacy.
Applications are available at www.agfoundation.org under Projects: White-Reinhardt Mini-Grants. All applications must be submitted electronically. Remember, the application period closes October 15.
