Slice of Soil

Slice of Soil

One of the most important natural resources on the earth’s surface is soil. Our food producing land remains the same and yet the world population continues to grow. You can use an apple to demonstrate how little of the earth’s surface is actually used for food production as compared to the growing population.

Design your own Agriculture Education program today! Here’s what you’ll need:

Kansas teaching standards for Slice of Soil -  Standards for Grades K-2

Standard 2: Physical Science

  • Benchmark 1: All students will develop skills to describe objects.
  • Indicator 2: The student separates or sorts a group of objects or materials by properties.

Standard 4: Earth and Space Science

  • Indicator 1: The student observes, compares, and sorts earth materials.
