Education
I was born and raised in Kansas and graduated from Olathe East High School. After high school, I moved to Lawrence to attend the University of Kansas, where I earned a degree in psychology. After being critically injured in the line of duty, I returned to school and received my law degree from the Washburn University School of Law in 2010.
Work Experience
I followed in my father’s footsteps and became a police officer. After I was hit by a drunk driver during a traffic stop in 2002, my career in uniform ended. When I was called back to testify on an old case, I made the decision to continue helping my community in the courtroom. I became a prosecutor for Wyandotte County’s District Attorney’s office and then for the Kansas Securities Commissioner, where I prosecuted white-collar crime.
