Job Description

Serves on a team of Kansas Farm Bureau staff that works directly with County Farm Bureaus to ensure effectiveness of local programming and long-term vitality of the grassroots organizational structure. Develops relationships with producers, ag businesses, community organizations and elected officials to create and maintain strong membership and partnerships for the benefit of agriculture and rural Kansas. Manages issues in the designated district and other issues as assigned by supervisor or organizational leadership.

Candidate must reside within 30 miles within the assigned district that serves the following eleven Kansas counties: Clark, Edwards, Ford, Gray, Hodgeman, Lane, Meade, Ness, Pawnee, Rush, and Scott. Travel within the area will be required and a company vehicle provided. 

Responsibilities

  • Supports and encourages county Farm Bureau programs, services, and activities.
  • Develops strategic relationships with producers, elected officials, businesses, and community leaders to ensure that KFB is a relevant and vibrant force across the district and state.
  • Attends County Farm Bureau Board meetings. Provides training and assistance as needed for meetings.
  • Communicates information on behalf of the state organization to ensure consistency and maximum effectiveness of member involvement and county work.
  • Regularly reports on county activities, successes, and challenges.
  • Surfaces, motivates, trains, and inspires leaders’ involvement in county and state Farm Bureau activities.
  • Stays abreast of current conditions and changes in membership numbers, assists with membership recruitment & retention.
  • Assists county Farm Bureau leaders in the financial management and administration of the autonomous, non-profit county entities.
  • Represents Farm Bureau’s policy position and organizational programs on the local level and empowers members and counties to engage in issues as appropriate.
  • Serves as the resource person for county Farm Bureau leaders on basic employment issues.
  • Conducts new county staff onboarding and support. May provide temporary office back-up in the absence of county staff.
  • Leads or supports district or regional events or trainings as needed.
  • May serve on various State Farm Bureau committees or working groups.
  • May assist with activities involving fleet management, legislative issues, membership, training & education and KFB programming.
  • Conducts assigned responsibilities in a fiscally responsible way.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, program management or equivalent.
  • Ability to make logical decisions in support of the organization’s philosophy and direction.
  • Keep abreast of Ag industry standards and government regulations affecting agriculture.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Have a high level of integrity.
  • Must have favorable driving record (subject to MVR).
  • Prefers two to four years work experience in program management or legislative involvement.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry is highly advantageous.
  • Must reside within 30 miles of the area served (includes the following counties: Clark, Edwards, Ford, Gray, Hodgeman, Lane, Meade, Ness, Pawnee, Rush, and Scott).

Travel

  • Moderate travel required

 Authority

  • Provides support to all county Farm Bureaus located in assigned district.

Relationships

  • Works with other staff to promote Kansas Farm Bureau.
  • Works with FBFS District Managers to promote KFB membership and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Serves as a local contact for KFB to elected officials, business, and community leaders
  • Works across division lines on projects and programs.
  • Communicates with all employees of the Kansas Farm Bureau. Operates as a team member of the staff. 

ADA Requirements

Requires ability to operate voice telephone, computer, and other office equipment. Requires in-state, out-of-state, and over-night travel. Must maintain a valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record. Other current office activity includes walking, standing, and sitting. Must be able to work outside of normal office hours. Requires the ability to load and unload materials. Regular attendance (as defined by the Employee Handbook) is a function of the job.

Neosho County Farm Bureau Coordinator  

Neosho County Farm Bureau Association is seeking to fill the part-time position of County Coordinator. The ideal candidate will serve as the day-to-day representative in the following capacity: event planning, agriculture education for youth and adults, public relations, administrative support, membership, and relationship building. He/she will exhibit initiative, creativity, and a high level of character, outgoing, as well as proficiency in basic bookkeeping and computer skills. An agriculture knowledge/background is preferred. This position will require 15-25 flexible hours per week, with potential to work from home with starting date of June 1st, 2024.
