Farm Bureau members in Kansas should take action now on HB 2740, a bill that would increase the statewide property tax levy for schools. If this bill were to pass, it would negatively impact each farmer and rancher in Kansas. The proportion of state and local tax revenue coming from agricultural land has increased to the highest amount seen in the past 20 years.

Although legislators are facing a difficult decision in regards to K12 funding, the funding solution found in HB 2740 is not one the agricultural community can support.

KFB's grassroots policy says, “The legislature should develop school finance legislation that minimizes reliance on the property tax for support of public elementary and secondary schools.”

Ask your elected officials to vote NO on HB 2740. Send an e-mail, tweet or post on Facebook to be sure the future of farms and ranches are protected.
