In an effort to surface and develop leaders for Farm Bureau, the members of the Leadership KFB program attend five sessions held throughout the state and a final session in Washington, D.C. In early April, the class held their third session in Wichita. The group visited with staff from the Kansas Leadership Center learning about the innovative and collaborative ways they aim to help Kansas communities face challenges. They heard from the director of the Eqqus BEds, GMD #2 about the use of water and balance between agricultural and municipal uses of this precious resource. Visits were made to nearby communities including the Walton Rural Education Center and Dyck Arboretum of the Plains in Hesston.  Class members also visited Cargill facilities learning about the marketing and innovations taking place in the food industry and explored the Green Acres Market grocery to gain insight and perspectives to more urban-focused consumer trends.
